About

Joe

Call me Joe.

In March of 2012 I took a one month vacation from work. On my first day of vacation I got sick. I had a cough and a fever. The fever subsided, but the coughing attacks lasted five weeks.

So instead of traveling and being outside, I spent my vacation watching movies, gaming online, and surfing the internet. I ran across a tweet that linked to an interview with Scott Harrison. In the interview, he tells his story from youth to charity: water founder.

After watching his interview and some of the other charity: water videos on the site,  I was moved in many levels. Living here in Southern California, it’s hard to imagine what a water crisis feels like. I mean, here I am in a one bedroom apartment. I’m sick and have little energy, but I can still walk to my kitchen, open my faucet, and get clean water to make myself some tea. I can take a warm shower, a hot bath, and brush my teeth without any hassle whatsoever.

I wanted to get involved. I wanted to make a difference. Thankfully, charity: water has a business model that let’s people like you and me get involved in fund raising. That’s how the idea of BuyMeADrink.org came to be.

Please join me in making a difference. Let’s change this:

What can we do?

Into this:

We can help.

One drink at a time.

Cheers!
